Biological Activity
SR-12813 is a pregnane X receptor (PXR) agonist and HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor. By binding to PXR, it activates transcriptional expression of xenobiotic-metabolizing enzymes such as CYP3A4, thereby modulating drug clearance and metabolic pathways. Simultaneously, SR-12813 suppresses cholesterol biosynthesis by enhancing the degradation of HMG-CoA reductase. These downstream actions regulate lipid homeostasis and cellular xenobiotic response phenotypes in hepatic models. [1][2]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
