SR 11237 is a selective retinoid X receptor (RXR) agonist. Activation of RXR by SR 11237 promotes RXR/RXR homodimer formation and transactivates reporter genes driven by RXR-response elements without activating retinoic acid receptors (RARs). In cellular models, including F9 embryonal carcinoma and HL-60 myeloblastic leukemia cells, RXR activation by SR 11237 modulates gene transcription and cell differentiation, clarifying the distinct pathway functions of RXR homodimers versus RXR/RAR heterodimers.[1][2]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
