SPHINX31 is a potent and selective inhibitor of serine/arginine-rich protein kinase 1 (SRPK1). Selective inhibition of SRPK1 disrupts the phosphorylation of serine/arginine-rich splicing factor proteins, thereby regulating downstream pre-mRNA alternative splicing pathways such as VEGF-A. This altered splicing shifts pro-angiogenic isoforms to anti-angiogenic isoforms, leading to the suppression of vascular endothelial cell proliferation and inhibition of neovascularization.
