Biological Activity

SMIP34 is a small-molecule inhibitor targeting proline, glutamic acid, and leucine-rich protein 1 (PELP1). By disrupting PELP1-mediated signaling complexes and downstream oncogenic signaling pathways, SMIP34 effectively reduces cell viability, suppresses cell invasion, and induces apoptosis in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) cellular models. These biological activities demonstrate the utility of targeting PELP1 to impair breast cancer proliferation and survival mechanisms. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
