Biological Activity

SLF1081851 hydrochloride is a small-molecule inhibitor of spinster homolog 2 (Spns2) that blocks cellular sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) release with an IC50 of 1.93 μM [1]. By inhibiting Spns2-mediated S1P transport, SLF1081851 disrupts extracellular S1P gradients required for lymphocyte trafficking [1]. This inhibition reduces circulating plasma S1P concentrations and blood lymphocyte counts in vivo, serving as a chemical probe for studying Spns2 biology and immune modulation. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
