Skimmin is a natural coumarin glucoside isolated from Hydrangea paniculata that exhibits potent anti-inflammatory activity. It acts primarily by modulating inflammatory response pathways, including the NF-kB and TGF-β signaling cascades. Through these interactions, skimmin suppresses the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and attenuates tissue inflammation and fibrotic remodeling in renal cellular models. Consequently, skimmin downregulates downstream inflammatory mediators, mitigating cellular damage and extracellular matrix accumulation.

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
