Biological Activity

SJ000291942 is a small-molecule activator of the canonical bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) signaling pathway. Through activation of BMP receptor-mediated cascades, the compound promotes the phosphorylation and nuclear translocation of Smad1, Smad5, and Smad8 proteins. This downstream signaling event drives transcriptional regulation of BMP-responsive target genes, modulating key biological processes including osteogenic differentiation, cellular fate determination, and tissue development.

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
