Biological Activity
SETDB1-TTD-IN-1 is a competitive inhibitor of the SETDB1 tandem tudor domain (SETDB1-TTD, and acts as a SETDB1 methyltransferase activator. It blocks SETDB1-TTD binding to histone H3 peptides while enhancing SETDB1 catalytic activity to promote Akt1 Lysmethylation and subsequent Akt1 Thrphosphorylation and activation. By modulating this pathway, SETDB1-TTD-IN-1 alters downstream gene expression and stimulates cell proliferation, serving as a functional tool compound to study SETDB1-TTD biology. [1][2]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
