SC-236 is a potent, selective, and orally active cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor displaying an IC50 ofand approximately 18,000-fold selectivity over COX-1. By suppressing COX-2 catalytic function, SC-236 blocks prostaglandin biosynthesis, thereby attenuating downstream inflammatory signaling pathways. This inhibition leads to anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antitumor effects, including reduced cell proliferation, diminished angiogenesis, and promoted apoptosis in various cellular and animal models. Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
