Biological Activity

SBFI-26 is a competitive small-molecule inhibitor targeting fatty acid-binding protein 5 (FABP5) and fatty acid-binding protein 7 (FABP7). By blocking FABP-mediated intracellular transport, SBFI-26 impairs the cellular uptake and breakdown of endocannabinoids, thereby increasing anandamide signaling. Downstream, this inhibition attenuates inflammatory pain pathways, reduces nociceptive behaviors in preclinical models, and suppresses prostate cancer cell proliferation and cell migration. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
