SB239063 is a potent and selective p38 MAPKα/β inhibitor with an IC50 of 44 nM, displaying no activity against the p38γ and p38δ isoforms. By inhibiting the p38 MAPK signaling pathway, SB239063 suppresses the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as TNF-α and IL-8, leading to reduced inflammatory cellular responses and decreased neutrophil infiltration in animal models of tissue injury.

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
