Biological Activity

SB 225002 is a potent and selective CXCR2 antagonist that inhibits interleukin-8 (IL-8) binding to CXCR2 with an IC50 of 22 nM, demonstrating >150-fold selectivity over other 7-transmembrane receptors. By blocking CXCR2 signaling pathways, SB 225002 attenuates downstream neutrophil activation and migration. Consequently, this compound suppresses IL-8-induced human neutrophil chemotaxis and cell elongation in inflammatory assay models. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
