SB202190 is a potent and selective p38 MAPK inhibitor targeting p38α and p38β protein kinases. By suppressing p38 MAPK catalytic activity, SB202190 blocks downstream signal transduction through the p38/MAPKAPK2 pathway, modulating stress-induced gene expression and cellular responses. This inhibition affects key downstream pathways, leading to reduced protein phosphorylation, suppression of inflammatory mediator release, and regulation of autophagy and cell survival phenotypes. Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
