Biological Activity

SB269970 HCl is a potent and selective 5-HT7 receptor antagonist with a pKi of 8.3 and displays greater than 50-fold selectivity over other receptor subtypes. By blocking 5-HT7 receptor activity, SB269970 inhibits serotonin-stimulated adenylate cyclase activity and cAMP accumulation. This modulation of serotonergic signaling downstream regulates neuronal excitability and attenuates anxiety- and depression-like behaviors in animal models. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
