Biological Activity

SB 202190 hydrochloride is a potent and selective p38 MAP kinase inhibitor targeting p38α and p38β isoforms. By blocking p38 MAPK signaling pathways, it modulates downstream transcriptional activity and cellular stress responses. The compound demonstrates anti-cancer properties, triggers autophagy, and is widely utilized to investigate apoptotic regulation under chronic ischemic conditions as well as hippocampus-dependent spatial memory mechanisms. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
