Sappanone A is a natural homoisoflavanone isolated from Caesalpinia sappan that acts as an anti-inflammatory agent. It induces HO-1 expression by activating Nrf2 through the p38 MAPK pathway. Furthermore, sappanone A suppresses LPS-induced NF-κB activation by inhibiting the phosphorylation of RelA/p65 at Ser536. Downstream, these pathway modulations attenuate inflammatory responses by reducing pro-inflammatory cytokine expression and cellular oxidative stress. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
