Sanguinarine is a natural benzophenanthridine alkaloid that modulates key cellular pathways to exert anticancer, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory activities. It stimulates reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and activates the JNK and NF-kB signaling cascades, leading to cell cycle arrest and the induction of apoptosis in tumor cells.
