Biological Activity

Cutamesine dihydrochloride (SA4503) is a potent and selective sigma-1 receptor agonist with an IC50 ofin guinea pig brain membranes. Selective activation of sigma-1 receptors by SA4503 modulates intracellular calcium homeostasis and enhances neurotrophic signaling. These biological processes mediate neuroprotective, anti-amnesic, and antidepressant-like downstream phenotypic effects in central nervous system cellular models. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
