Biological Activity

S6K-18 is a selective inhibitor of ribosomal protein S6 kinase beta-1 (S6K1, p70S6K). As a downstream effector of the mTORC1 signaling pathway, S6K1 regulates key cellular processes including protein synthesis and cell growth. Inhibition of S6K1 suppresses the phosphorylation of ribosomal protein S6 and related target substrates, leading to impaired protein translation, cell growth, and cell proliferation in target model systems. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
