Biological Activity

S-Nitroso-N-acetyl-DL-penicillamine (SNAP) is a nitric oxide donor that acts as a stable inhibitor of platelet aggregation and an inducer of platelet disaggregation. By generating free nitric oxide, SNAP modulates vascular signaling pathways, inhibiting fibrinogen binding to activated platelets and decreasing the release of alpha-granule markers such as P-selectin. Consequently, SNAP impairs activation-dependent cell adhesion and attenuates downstream prothrombotic phenotypes. [1]
