Biological Activity

Rotigotine Hydrochloride is a potent dopamine receptor agonist with high affinity for the dopamine D3 receptor (Ki 0.71 nM), D2, D5, and D4 receptors (Ki 4-15 nM), and D1 receptor (Ki 83 nM). It also acts as a partial agonist at 5-HT1A receptors and an antagonist at α2B-adrenergic receptors. Through activation of dopaminergic signaling pathways, rotigotine modulates neurotransmission and exhibits neuroprotective functions in neuronal models. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
