Resiquimod (R-848) is an imidazoquinoline immune response modifier that acts as a potent Toll-like receptor 7 (TLR7) and TLR8 agonist. Activation of TLR7 and TLR8 stimulates the MyD88-dependent signaling pathway, triggering the downstream secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines, including TNF-α, IL-6, and IFN-α. Through immune activation and cytokine induction, resiquimod displays potent antiviral activity and reduces hepatitis C virus infection. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
