Biological Activity

Rebaudioside B is a natural steviol glycoside isolated from Stevia rebaudiana that acts as a non-nutritive sweetener by selectively activating the human sweet taste receptor TAS1R2/TAS1R3. Activation of TAS1R2/TAS1R3 stimulates downstream G protein-coupled signaling cascades in taste bud cells, conveying sweet taste perception with an improved sensory profile and reduced bitter off-taste compared to other steviol glycosides. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
