Biological Activity

(R)-HTS-3 is a selective inhibitor of lysophosphatidylcholine acyltransferase 3 (LPCAT3) (IC50 = 0.09 µM). By targeting LPCAT3 within the Lands cycle phospholipid remodeling pathway, it suppresses the incorporation of arachidonic acid into cellular membrane phospholipids and alters acyl-chain composition. Downstream, this depletion of polyunsaturated phospholipids mitigates lipid peroxidation and protects HT-1080 and 786-O cancer cells from RSL3-induced ferroptosis. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
