Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) is a naturally occurring lipid mediator and an endogenous agonist for E-prostanoid receptors (EP1, EP2, EP3, and EP4). Activation of these G protein-coupled receptors modulates intracellular cyclic AMP levels and calcium signaling pathways. Downstream, PGE2 promotes uterine smooth muscle contraction, cervical softening during labor, and stimulates osteoblast-mediated signals that induce osteoclast activation and bone resorption. [1][2]

- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
