PRLX-93936 hydrochloride is an analog of erastin that acts as an inducer of ferroptosis by targeting the system xC- cystine/glutamate antiporter. Inhibition of system xC- disrupts cellular glutathione synthesis, leading to the accumulation of toxic lipid reactive oxygen species and iron-dependent cell death. Consequently, PRLX-93936 impairs tumor cell survival through oxidative stress-mediated pathways downstream of metabolic dysfunction. [1]
