Biological Activity

PRGL493 is a selective inhibitor of long-chain acyl-CoA synthetase 4 (ACSL4). By impeding ACSL4-mediated conversion of arachidonic acid into arachidonoyl-CoA, it modulates intracellular lipid metabolism and suppresses de novo steroidogenesis. Downstream, PRGL493 blocks cell proliferation and attenuates tumor growth in both breast and prostate cancer models while sensitizing tumor cells to chemotherapeutic and hormonal therapies. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
