Biological Activity

Pranlukast hemihydrate is a selective antagonist of cysteinyl leukotriene receptor-1 (CysLT1). By blocking the binding of leukotrienes, including LTC4, LTD4, and LTE4, it attenuates bronchoconstriction and airway inflammation. Additionally, Pranlukast inhibits NF-κB pathway activation, thereby downregulating the release of proinflammatory cytokines such as IL-1, IL-6, and TNF-α from monocytes and macrophages to exert broad immunomodulatory effects. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
