Biological Activity

Poncirin is a natural flavanone glycoside extracted from trifoliate orange with reported anti-inflammatory and antibacterial activities. In macrophage cellular models, poncirin suppresses lipopolysaccharide-induced production of pro-inflammatory mediators, including nitric oxide and prostaglandin E2. Downstream, it inhibits the expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase and cyclooxygenase-2 through the inactivation of the NF-kB signaling pathway, reducing cellular inflammatory phenotypes. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
