Biological Activity
Phosphorylcholine chloride is a zwitterionic phospholipid head group compound that modulates host immune cell responses. As a component of biological membranes and pathogen surface antigens, it suppresses inflammatory signaling and cellular immune activation to promote immune tolerance. In surface modification, phosphorylcholine forms a tightly bound hydration layer that reduces non-specific protein adsorption and prevents cell adhesion to enhance biomaterial biocompatibility. [1]
