Biological Activity

PAP-1 is a potent and selective blocker of the voltage-gated potassium channel Kv1.3 (EC50 2 nM). By blocking Kv1.3 channel activity, PAP-1 impairs calcium signaling and inhibits the proliferation and functional activation of human effector memory T cells. Consequently, treatment with PAP-1 suppresses downstream inflammatory cytokine production and effectively reduces delayed-type hypersensitivity responses in vivo. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
