Biological Activity

Pamidronate disodium pentahydrate is a nitrogen-containing bisphosphonate that acts as a potent inhibitor of farnesyl pyrophosphate synthase. By disrupting the mevalonate pathway, it impairs protein prenylation, suppressing osteoclast activity and osteoclast-mediated bone resorption. Additionally, it modulates key signaling cascades involved in bone homeostasis, preventing bone loss and preserving bone mineral density.
