Biological Activity

Ovalbumin (257-264) is an antigenic peptide epitope corresponding to residues 257–264 of chicken ovalbumin. It functions as a major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I (H-2Kb)-restricted antigen that binds to H-2Kb molecules and triggers specific CD8+ cytotoxic T cell activation. Antigen presentation of this epitope stimulates T cell receptor signaling, inducing T-cell-mediated immune responses and cytokine secretion in immunological studies.[1][2]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
