Oligomycin A is a macrolide antibiotic and a selective inhibitor of mitochondrial F1FO-ATP synthase. By binding directly to the Fo subunit of the enzyme complex, Oligomycin A blocks proton translocating channels across the inner mitochondrial membrane, thereby preventing oxidative phosphorylation and ATP synthesis. Consequently, this target blockade disrupts cellular bioenergetics, suppresses ATP-dependent metabolic processes, and induces apoptosis across a wide variety of cell lines. [1]

- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
Pre-aliquoted for Longevity: Solid-state aliquots offer significantly longer shelf life compared to stock solutions, ensuring maximum stability for every use.
