Okanin is a natural chalcone that attenuates lipopolysaccharide-induced microglial activation by inhibiting the TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway. Suppression of TLR4 expression and IκBα phosphorylation prevents nuclear translocation of the NF-κB p65 subunit, leading to reduced inflammatory cytokine production. Additionally, okanin induces HO-1 expression via Nrf2 activation, which downregulates iNOS expression and suppresses nitric oxide production, offering neuroprotective potential. [1][2]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
