Biological Activity

OC000459 is a potent and selective D prostanoid receptor 2 (DP2, also known as CRTH2) antagonist with an IC50 of 13 nM. By blocking prostaglandin D2 binding to DP2 receptors, it suppresses G protein-coupled receptor signaling in immune effector cells. This inhibition prevents the activation, chemotaxis, and cytokine production of TH2 lymphocytes, eosinophils, and basophils, thereby suppressing allergic inflammatory cascades.

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
