Biological Activity

Obicetrapib (TA-8995) is a potent and selective inhibitor of cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP). By suppressing CETP-mediated neutral lipid exchange between lipoprotein particles, it significantly increases high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels while decreasing non-HDL cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), and apolipoprotein B concentrations. These systemic lipid-modifying alterations enhance anti-atherogenic lipoprotein profiles and support overall cardiovascular risk reduction. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
