NSC59984 is a small-molecule p53 pathway activator that targets mutant p53-expressing cancer cells. It restores signaling through the p53 pathway by promoting the degradation of mutant p53 protein and inducing p73 activation. Downstream, NSC59984 upregulates p53 target gene expression, increases reactive oxygen species levels, and selectively triggers caspase-dependent apoptosis in p53-mutant tumor cells. [1]

Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
- For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
- Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
