NSC-87877 is a potent inhibitor of protein tyrosine phosphatase Shp2 (IC50 of 0.318 μM) and Shp1 (IC50 of 0.355 μM) that also inhibits dual-specificity phosphatase 26 (DUSP26). By blocking Shp2 phosphatase activity, it modulates receptor tyrosine kinase signaling and attenuates epidermal growth factor-stimulated ERK1/2 activation within the Ras/MAPK pathway. Consequently, NSC-87877 suppresses growth factor-induced cellular responses and inhibits oncogenic signaling phenotypes.
