Biological Activity

NSC 207895 (XI-006) is a nitrobenzofuroxan derivative and small-molecule inhibitor targeting MDMX and regulating MDM2. By suppressing MDMX transcription and activity, it attenuates MDMX-mediated inhibition of p53, leading to p53 pathway reactivation. This upregulation of p53 drives increased transcriptional expression of pro-apoptotic target genes, including BAX and PUMA, ultimately inducing apoptosis and suppressing cancer cell viability. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
