Biological Activity

NS1652 is a reversible chloride channel blocker that potently inhibits chloride conductance in human and mouse red blood cells, while displaying weak activity against volume-activated anion conductance (VRAC) in HEK293 cells. By impairing transmembrane anion flux, NS1652 modulates red blood cell membrane conductance and cellular volume regulation, thereby suppressing swelling-induced ion transport downstream of osmotic stress pathways.

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
