Biological Activity

Nitrocaramiphen hydrochloride is a competitive antagonist of muscarinic acetylcholine receptor M1 (mAChR M1, Ki 5.5 nM), exhibiting 71-fold selectivity over mAChR M2 and 10-fold selectivity over mAChR M3. By selectively blocking cholinergic signaling through mAChR M1, it inhibits agonist-mediated receptor activation and completely removes muscarine-induced cellular hyperpolarizing responses in target tissues. FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
