Biological Activity

NIK SMI1 is a potent and selective inhibitor of NF-κB-inducing kinase (NIK) that targets the non-canonical NF-κB signaling pathway. By suppressing NIK catalytic activity, it prevents the downstream phosphorylation and proteolytic processing of p100 to p52, thereby dampening NF-κB-dependent gene transcription. Consequently, inhibition of this pathway suppresses inflammatory responses and impairs cell proliferation and survival in various disease models. [1][2]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
