Biological Activity

Necrocide1 is a small-molecule inducer of cancer cell necrosis that exhibits potent antiproliferative activity against MCF-7 breast cancer and PC3 prostate cancer cell lines. By promoting regulated necrosis pathways, the compound inhibits tumor cell proliferation and disrupts cellular survival mechanisms. These cytotoxic effects suppress primary tumor growth and demonstrate marked antitumor efficacy in preclinical xenograft models. [1]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
