Biological Activity

N-Formyl-Met-Leu-Phe (fMLP) is an endogenous chemotactic peptide and selective agonist of formyl peptide receptor 1 (FPR1). Activation of FPR1 by fMLP induces intracellular calcium mobilization and triggers downstream signaling through the MAPK/ERK, PI3K/AKT, and p38 MAPK pathways. These signaling cascades govern essential inflammatory cellular responses, mediating directional neutrophil migration, chemotaxis, and innate immune defense. [1][2]

FAQ
Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
