Biological Activity

N-butyl-N-(4-hydroxybutyl) nitrosamine is an organ-specific nitrosamine carcinogen used to induce urinary bladder carcinoma in rodent models. Exposure to this agent alters urothelial proliferation and cellular signaling, promoting progressive tumorigenesis. It causes the development of urothelial dysplasia and high-grade, invasive tumors that recapitulate the histopathological and genetic features of human muscle-invasive bladder cancer. [1][2]
