Biological Activity

N-1-Naphthylphthalamic acid is a potent, specific inhibitor of polar auxin transport in plants that acts by targeting PIN-FORMED (PIN) and ABCB auxin efflux carriers. By inhibiting carrier-mediated cellular auxin efflux, it disrupts asymmetric auxin gradients across plant tissues. Consequently, this blockade impairs downstream auxin-regulated physiological processes, including root and shoot gravitropism, phototropism, and organogenesis. [1]
