Biological Activity

Muvalaplin (LY3473329) is an orally active small-molecule inhibitor of lipoprotein(a) formation that disrupts the interaction between apolipoprotein(a) and apolipoprotein B-100. By binding to the kringle IV 7-8 domains of apolipoprotein(a), it prevents initial non-covalent association and covalent disulfide linkage with apolipoprotein B-100, thereby suppressing lipoprotein(a) assembly. Consequently, this targeted disruption reduces circulating lipoprotein(a) plasma levels in vivo, supporting its research application in atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease and aortic stenosis. Q: Why does a DMSO stock precipitate in media/saline?
A: It is caused by unheated aqueous media (supersaturation), local solvent shock, or incorrect mixing sequence.
How to fix it?
  • Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
  • Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
  • For complex mixes, always add the aqueous phase last.
  • Re-dissolve minor precipitates with a 37°C water bath and sonication (≤30 min).
