MRS 2578 is a potent, selective P2Y6 receptor antagonist (IC50 37 nM) that exhibits insignificant activity at P2Y1, P2Y2, P2Y4, and P2Y11 receptors. By blocking P2Y6 receptor activation, MRS 2578 inhibits agonist-stimulated inositol phosphate accumulation and downstream intracellular calcium mobilization. This inhibition modulates purinergic signaling pathways, suppressing inflammatory responses and vascular smooth muscle contraction in experimental models. [1]
