Monocrotaline is a macrocyclic pyrrolizidine alkaloid that serves as a toxic phytotoxin and cardiotoxin agent. Upon metabolic activation in the liver, it induces endothelial cell injury, progressive remodeling of pulmonary vessels, and pulmonary arterial hypertension in animal models. This pathological process leads to severe proliferative pulmonary vasculitis, elevated pulmonary arterial pressure, and subsequent right ventricular hypertrophy or cor pulmonale. [1]

- Preheat media/saline to 37°C.
- Mix rapidly (pipette/vortex) upon addition.
